Why AWI
We are the “local extension” of the
Architectural Woodwork Institute. Chartered in 1966, just twelve years behind
AWI National, our chapter now includes over 60 members statewide and is firmly
established as one of AWI National’s strongest.
We prepare and present educational programs
and workshops right here, in Florida, for our Florida membership.
Members include cabinet
makers, architectural mill workers, suppliers, architects, designers, and
students. They've assigned the highest priority to quality architectural
woodwork.
Our goal includes educating woodworking
business owners toward the successful operation of their businesses.
Our
mission also includes educating architects and other design professionals
regarding the unique and appealing characteristics of architectural woodwork.
Manufacturers enhance their woodworking business' operation with lessons learned
at our programs, education of their employees in workshops, and enhanced
credibility with their use of our logo and other materials.
Additionally, membership creates
opportunities for friendly and productive networking with their local
competition.
Supplier members (vendors
to our industry) enjoy affiliation with the woodworking
businesses in our state that have made quality, not price, their highest
priority.
Affiliate members
(architects, designers, and students) find an unlimited resource for answers to
questions of woodworking: design, fabrication, and installation.
